Jan Karremans, author
Jan Karremans is Senior Sales Engineer for the DACH region as well as Director of Sales Engineering in EMEA, overseeing a team of engineers providing in-depth insights and consultancy on the deployment and management of EDB Postgres databases. With over 20 years experience in the database market and a former qualified Oracle ACE, Jan is a well respected expert in relational database technologies, speaking regularly at Oracle User Group events around the world and at Postgres User Group events across Europe.He began his career working as a systems administrator running a Datapoint Mainframe at a medical facility for the Royal Dutch Army. While there Jan supported the switch to Oracle Database 7.1 on a Micro VAX 3100, which began his involvement with the Oracle Database. Subsequently, he participated in the development and deployment of a database platform for healthcare administration, called Ecaris, which was developed on a Rapid Webapplication Development framework, similar to Oracle APEX.On a parallel track in his career, Jan moved into sales and consultancy as Business Development Manager for New Zealand based and operated Dbvisit. At the company he developed sales campaigns to drive demand for its innovative software that protects data in Oracle Standard Edition databases.
