Pioneer Natural Resources is a Fortune 500 company engaged in oil and gas exploration primarily in Texas with annual revenues over $9.5 billion USD. They produce over 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent (petroleum, NGL, and natural gas) daily. Pioneer recently embarked on a multi-year program implementing Oracle EBS to streamline processes across every business unit and functional area. While EBS provides a great suite of analytics out of the box, Pioneer users needed a richer data set augmented with production, active operations, safety incidents, and realized pricing metrics. Their user base's analytics maturity ranged from dashboard consumers to data scientists and the technical solution required a best in breed architecture.
In this session, we'll review the Pioneer business challenges and implemented solutions, including an Exadata deployment, Boomi, Composite, OBIEE, PowerBI, and Spotfire.

About speaker
Nick Larsen, author
Nick Larsen joined iOLAP in 2005 and has extensive experience in designing, developing and managing large-scale systems integration and advanced analytics projects. His technical experience includes data modeling, technical architecture, data architecture, project management, and system integration.
He has worked with multiple BI platforms including MicroStrategy, SAP BusinessObjects, Cognos, OBIEE, YellowfinBI, Domo, and Tableau. Nick’s database expertise includes Netezza, Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata and Amazon Redshift. Nick received his BS in Business Computer Information Systems at the University of North Texas in 2004.
