Korado Korlević Znanstvenik i astronom
Korado Korlević is one of the leading Croatian astronomers and initiators of the Višnjan Observatory and many educational projects in Croatia in this area. He was one of the leaders of the First International Expedition to the Tunguska Explosion in Siberia in 1990.
Encouraged by the problem of Earth's collisions with asteroids and comets, it encourages activities related to the research of small bodies in the solar system, which results in the first discoveries of asteroids and comets from the Republic of Croatia. He discovered more than 1,400 small planets (asteroids), and participated in the discovery of two comets. Since 1993, he has been working as a leader of educational and scientific activities at the Višnjan Observatory. In addition to pedagogical work, he has published many scientific and popular science papers in the country and abroad.
He is currently involved in astronomical education, promoting astronomy and science with popular science lectures and media appearances, making astronomical instruments, meteors and meteorites, developing methods of creative thinking and their application in education, and nature and heritage protection projects.
He has won several awards and recognitions, is a member of many international professional organizations, an honorary member of four associations, and for merits in the field of astronomy and education, the Commission for Naming the International Astronomical Union named one of the celestial bodies between Mars and Jupiter Korado.
